CBS Orders Comedies “Angel from Hell,” “Life in Pieces”

In advance of its official schedule presentation, CBS has thus far ordered two half-hour comedy pilots to series.

Starring Jane Lynch and Maggie Lawson, “Angel from Hell” is the first of the two pickups. It follows perfectionist Allison (Lawson) as she meets a woman who claims to be her guardian angel Amy (Lynch). While Allison wants to dismiss the woman’s claim, she cannot ignore the accuracy of Amy’s pronouncements.

Tad Quill penned the pilot, which also stars Kyle Bornheimer and Kevin Pollak.

Ensemble comedy “Life in Pieces” tells the story of a family from the perspective of its different members.

Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, Zoe Lister Jones, Colin Hanks, Angelique Cabral, Thomas Sadoski, Betsy Brandt, Dan Bakkedahl, Niall Cunningham, Holly J. Barrett and Giselle Eisenberg star.
