Fifth Harmony’s “Reflection” Track Sales Rose By 54%; “Worth It” Played Big Role

Thanks to a 32% rise in total consumption units, Fifth Harmony’s “Reflection” appears at an improved #38 on the latest edition of the Billboard 200.

Up seven spots from last week’s position, that represents the album’s best ranking since late February (“Reflection” appeared at #27 on the chart dated March 7, which was based on the February 16-22 tracking week).

A significant portion of that week-over-week uptick is attributable to improved track sales, and a significant portion of the improvement in track sales is attributable to a surge of interest in “Worth It (featuring Kid Ink).”

Benefiting from the release of the music video, rising airplay and the group’s exposure during the Kids Choice Awards, “Worth It” moved 50,898 copies during the tracking week ending April 5. According to Nielsen, that represents a 22,423 gain (+79%) over the previous week’s tally (28,475).

Nielsen credits “Reflection” with a total of 83,620 weekly track sales and a week-over-week gain of 29,349 (+54%), which means “Worth It” accounted for 61% of the weekly “Reflection” track sales and 76% of the weekly increase.

Previous single “Sledgehammer” also played a role. Responsible for 11,487 weekly sales, the group’s first Top 40 Hot 100 hit bested last week’s mark by 2,487 (+28%).

In all, “Reflection” shifted 14,571 total consumption units during the week ending April 5. That bested last week’s tally by 3,540 units (+32%).

Traditional album sales accounted for 3,631 of this week’s total unit count and 815 of the week-over-week gain. Track sales (as TEA units, in which 10 single sales = 1 album sale) were responsible for 8,362 units and 2,935 of the weekly gain, while streams (as SEA units, in which 1500 streams = 1 album sale) accounted for 2,578 units and a week-over-week loss of 210.

The increased “Worth It” sales, alone, provided “Reflection” with an extra 2,242 TEA units. Had the album not received that specific boost, it would have landed at #43 on the weekly Billboard 200.

To date, “Worth It” has generated 219,694 paid US downloads. The cumulative US “Sledgehammer” sales total is 527,092.
