Ratings: E!’s “The Royals” Gets Off to an Underwhelming Start

A source of significant confidence within the E! boardroom, new series “The Royals” earned a second season renewal in advance of its first season premiere.

Ratings for that premiere, which finally came Sunday, had to at least partially shatter that confidence.

Sunday’s “The Royals” scored a modest 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with 1.41 million viewers.

Disappointing given the hype, the numbers are rendered even worse by the fact that the episode received lead-in support from E! flagship “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” While certainly not as hot as it once was, Sunday’s “Kardashians” still delivered a valuable 1.2 with 2.55 million viewers in the lead-in position.
