Empire’s “You’re So Beautiful” Debuts at #71 on the Hot 100

One of Lucious Lyon’s career defining hits within the storyline universe of FOX’s “Empire” is now a Billboard Hot 100 hit in the real world.

“You’re So Beautiful” debuts at #71 on this week’s chart. It bests “Keep Your Money,” which peaked at #99, to become the highest-charting “Empire” soundtrack release to date.

The impressive chart bow is attributable to the song’s strong digital sales performance. It debuts at #18 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart. For mainstream music reference, it falls between Fall Out Boy’s #17 “Centuries” and Natalie La Rose’s #19 “Somebody (featuring Jeremih)” on that single sales chart.

Presented as an updated version involving the Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) sons Jamal and Hakeem (played by Jussie Smollett and Yazz, respectively), the song was featured in last Wednesday’s episode–and again this week. The version charting on the Hot 100 is credited to “Empire Cast featuring Jussie Smollett and Yazz.”

“You’re So Beautiful” and “Keep Your Money” are thus far the only two “Empire” singles to reach the Hot 100. That will change this week when “Conqueror,” which is currently on the verge of reaching the Top 5 on iTunes, debuts on the chart.
