Ratings: “SNL” Falls for Dakota Johnson, Alabama Shakes Episode

Saturday’s edition of “SNL” did not perform swimmingly in the ratings.

The episode, which featured host Dakota Johnson and musical guest Alabama Shakes, delivered a soft 3.8 overnight household rating. It scored a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating in the twenty five markets with local people meters.

The overnight household number ties the season low held by the October 11 Bill Hader-Hozier episode. The adults 18-49 number narrowly bests that episode’s 1.8 but still ranks as one of the weakest of the season. It ties the marks set by the October 4 Sarah Silverman-Maroon 5 and December 13 Martin Freeman-Charli XCX episodes. All other season 40 installments fared better in the demo.

This weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” was the first original installment since the January 31 edition, which featured host JK Simmons and musical guest D’Angelo. That drew a 4.3 overnight household rating and a 2.1 adults 18-49 number.
