Three Days Grace’s “I Am Machine” Hits #1 at Active Rock Radio

Since November 2014, the top two spots on the Media active rock chart have belonged to Foo Fighters’ “Something from Nothing” and Five Finger Death Punch’s “Wrong Side of Heaven.”

Each spent time as the leader and runner-up, but neither slipped beneath any other song.

Until this week.

Active rock radio officially has a new number one, and its name is “I Am Machine.” The Three Days Grace single rises three places to seize the throne from “Wrong Side of Heaven,” which had spent the first few weeks of 2015 in the leadership position.

That song slips to #2, while the aforementioned “Something from Nothing” is now rock radio’s #3 song. Seether’s “Same Damn Life” (#4) and Royal Blood’s “Figure it Out” (#5) close out the top five.

“I Am Machine” commanded a format-best 1,992 spins during the January 18-24 tracking week. That count bests last week’s total by 246 spins and thus registers the Three Days Grace song as active rock’s second-greatest gainer. Only Halestorm’s “Apocalyptic,” which added 305 spins to its weekly count (and claims #12 on the chart), enjoyed a bigger boost.

“I Am Machine” is the follow-up to “Painkiller,” which also hit #1 on the Mediabase active rock chart.
