“The Hanging Tree” Officially Goes Top 10 at Pop Radio

While it actually lost airplay this week, James Newton Howard’s “The Hanging Tree (featuring Jennifer Lawrence)” managed to achieve a positional gain on the official Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

That gain takes the song to the #10 spot.

“The Hanging Tree” rises one place to #10 on the strength of the 7,511 spins it received during the January 18-24 tracking week. That count trails last week’s mark by 202 spins, but insofar as Maroon 5’s “Animals” fell by a considerably sharper total (and from #10 to #12), “Tree” was able to score entry into the official top ten.

Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” claims the #1 position at pop this week on the strength of 16,312 spins. Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” (#2, 15,457), Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” (#3, 14,925), Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One” (#4, 14,496) and Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” (#5, 13,798) form the rest of the top five.
