Hot 100: Taylor Swift’s #1 “Blank Space” Sets New Career High Mark

In reigning for four consecutive weeks, Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” realistically, already deserved credit for posting her longest-ever run atop the Billboard Hot 100.

Predecessor “Shake it Off” spent four weeks on top, but they were broken into distinct, two-week stints.

As of this week, however, any ambiguity is gone: “Blank Space” is indeed the longest-reigning chart-topper of Swift’s career.

The blockbuster release earns its fifth consecutive week atop the all-encompassing Hot 100.

A force on the three major chart components–radio, sales and streaming (due to its video)–“Blank Space” is an undeniable smash. It also serves to provide further evidence in support of the notion that Swift’s transition into the realm of pure pop was a strategically and commercially successful one.

Other top ten Hot 100 songs this week:
2) Hozier – Take Me to Church
3) Mark Ronson – Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)
4) Meghan Trainor – Lips are Movin
5) Sam Smith – I’m Not the Only One
6) Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
7) Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass
8) Maroon 5 – Animals
9) Ariana Grande & The Weeknd – Love Me Harder
10) Taylor Swift – Shake it Off
