“The Hanging Tree” Going Top 40 at Pop, Hot AC Radio

Already one of the forty most-played songs at the pop and hot adult contemporary radio formats, James Newton Howard’s “The Hanging Tree (featuring Jennifer Lawrence)” is set to claim an official Top 40 position on both charts this Sunday.

The song, which comes from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” was the 38th-most-played song at pop radio and the 40th-most-played at Hot AC radio during the week between December 6 and 12. According to Mediabase, it commanded 1,257 spins and 354 spins from the respective formats.

Being prominently spun in high-profile markets, the song is faring even better from an audience standpoint. Its weekly impression count of 10.73 million was the 28th-largest at pop radio, while its Hot AC reach of 5.22 million is that format’s 30th-largest.

Number fifteen on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, “The Hanging Tree” is currently #14 on the iTunes all-genre single sales chart.
