Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” is Now One of Pop’s Ten Most-Played

December has thus far been a tremendous month for Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.” In addition to bringing the news that the Irish musician’s breakthrough hit will compete for the Song of the Year Grammy, the month also included the song’s rise to #2 on the all-encompassing Billboard Hot 100.

And as of Friday, it now represents the month in which the multi-format smash became one of pop’s ten most-played songs.

Already the #2 song at alternative radio and the #5 track at hot adult contemporary, “Church” rises to #10 on the rolling edition of Mediabase’s airplay chart. Aided by the week’s third-greatest airplay gain (+1438), “Take Me to Church” amassed 7,561 plays during the week between December 5 and 11.

The song should have no issue maintaining its top ten status through Sunday evening, at which point it will be formally crowned a top ten hit on Mediabase’s official weekly airplay chart.
