They spent many weeks in collective possession of the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100.

This February, they will battle for one of the most prestigious Grammy Awards.

News came Friday that Meghan Trainor’s eight-week #1 “All About That Bass” and Taylor Swift’s four-week #1 “Shake it Off” are among the five nominees for Record of the Year.

The two songs join fellow Iggy Azalea’s fellow Billboard #1 “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX)” Sam Smith’s solo breakthrough “Stay with Me” (the Darkchild remix) and Sia’s critical darling “Chandelier” in the race for the ROTY prize.

Nominations for all awards but Album of the Year were to be announced Friday morning. The contenders for that prize will be revealed during a CBS primetime special Friday evening.
