Hot 100: Hozier, Sam Hunt Reach the Top 40

One is the week’s biggest digital sales gainer. The other is a breakthrough country tune within one spot of the airplay chart’s peak position. Both are now top 40 hits on the all-encompassing Billboard Hot 100.

The music trade revealed Thursday that Hozier’s “Take Me to Church,” which is enjoying a rush of buzz thanks to exposure on both “SNL” and in a Beats commercial, rises sixteen places to #33 on this week’s Hot 100.

With sales still hot and airplay surging, “Church” likely has far higher to claim on the pivotal chart.

Also new to the top forty this week is Sam Hunt’s “Leave the Night On.” Now the #2 song at country radio, “Night” rises three places to a new peak of #38 on the Hot 100.
