Hot 100: Echosmith’s “Cool Kids,” Jason DeRulo’s “Trumpets” Hit Top 15

On the heels of its first appearance in the iTunes Top 10 and a continued rise at the pop and hot adult contemporary radio formats, Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” rises to a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100.

The four-piece act’s breakthrough single jumps three places to #13 on Billboard’s all-encompassing chart. Whether it can reach the top ten remains to be seen, but there is certainly questioning the fit of the song–and of the band–for today’s modern music environment.

“Cool Kids” is not alone in its top fifteen ascension this week. Also new to that portion of the chart is Jason DeRulo’s “Trumpets,” which climbs three places to #15.

Movement just outside the top fifteen includes a #18 debut for Taylor Swift’s “Out of the Woods” and a new peak of #20 (+5) for Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One.”
