Ratings: FOX’s “Gracepoint” Struggles in Thursday’s Premiere (Updated)

Update: The series premiere of FOX’s “Gracepoint” drew an abysmal 1.2 adults 18-49 rating with 4.8 million viewers.  It was fourth in the timeslot–behind CBS, ABC and FOX–in both columns.

Earlier in the night, FOX offered “Bones” (1.5 adults 18-49 rating, 6.3 million viewers).

==========

Not playing it safe this year, FOX opted to launch two of its new dramas in two very competitive timeslots.

“Gotham,” which launched last week, airs against CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” (for now), ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” NBC’s “The Voice” and ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” in the Monday at 8PM drama. Despite that competition, it has thus far performed well.

“Gracepoint,” which launched this Thursday, airs against CBS’ “Thursday Night Football” (for now) and ABC’s “Scandal.”

It did not start well.

The limited event series opened with a paltry 2.9 overnight household rating. Even with the number drawn by the opener of little-watched “Red Band Society” last month, it dramatically trails the 5.7 drawn by last week’s “Gotham” premiere.

It also puts FOX in fourth place for the timeslot. CBS’ “Thursday Night Football,” ABC’s “Scandal” and NBC’s “Bad Judge” and “A to Z” all did better.

Adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers, which are not expected to be more promising, will be available by noon.

— Earlier in the night, FOX offered “Bones” (4.4 overnight household rating).
