Hot 100: Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” Goes Top 20

Echosmith by Jonathan Weiner

Echosmith’s breakthrough single “Cool Kids” continues to heat up.

The multi-format hit, which recently entered the Top 10 at Hot AC radio and remains in the Top 15 at pop radio, rises to #19 on the latest edition of Billboard’s Hot 100. The product of a two position gain, it represents the song’s first trip inside the Top 20 of the all-encompassing Billboard chart.

Boosted by the Hot AC version of iHeartRadio’s “On the Verge” program earlier this summer, “Cool Kids” quickly extended its momentum to the realm of pop radio before also reaching the Top 40 at the alternative and adult contemporary formats.

As the song’s airplay has grown, so too has its sales pace. Over the past few weeks, it has maintained a steady position in the Top 20 of iTunes’ all-genre single sales chart.

Other moves inside the Top 20:

— Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” reaches a new peak of #11.

— Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” elevates three places to a new high of #13.

— Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Boy” jumps two spots to #16.

— Jennifer Lopez’ “Booty (featuring Pitbull or Iggy Azalea)” debuts at #18.
