Perhaps squeezing “Break Free,” “Anaconda” and “Bang Bang” into a single performance medley was not the best idea.
When Nicki Minaj took the MTV Video Music Awards stage for her “Bang Bang” rap verse, she appeared to be having an issue with her dress. The energetic rapper seemed oddly awkward and uncomfortable while performing, and her hand never left the midsection of her outfit.
While it initially seemed like Minaj was preparing to rip off the dress to reveal a racier outfit underneath, that moment never came. Minaj continued to clutch her dress until the performance came to an end.
The medley, which opened with Grande’s “Break Free” and then segued into Minaj’s “Anaconda” and the duo’s “Bang Bang” collaboration with Jessie J, required some very fast outfit changes. It appears the speed of those changes might have been too demanding.
