Ratings: FX’s “The Strain” Viewership Increases in Week Three

In an encouraging sign for FX’s high-profile new drama “The Strain,” viewership actually ticked upward for Sunday’s episode.

While serialized dramas tend to endure weeks of early ratings declines as initial curiosity fails to translate into regular viewership, “The Strain” cut its downturn at a single week. After slipping for its second episode, “The Strain” held steady in adults 18-49 and actually enjoyed additional viewership for the latest installment.

Sunday’s episode drew a 1.0 rating with 2.30 million viewers. The previous week’s telecast drew a 1.0 with 2.12 million, while the July 13 premiere managed a 1.2 rating with 2.99 million viewers.

In delivering an improved performance in its third week, “The Strain” follows the same trend as FX’s other summer dramas. Both freshman “Tyrant” and sophomore “The Bridge” enjoyed third-week-rebounds.
