Three weeks ago, Republic Records said that the impending release of Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” was “sure to be the musical event of the year.”
Hoping to make good on that bold declaration, Republic confirmed this week that the song will simultaneously impact pop, rhythmic and hot adult contemporary radio when it launches on Tuesday, July 29.
Co-produced by Max Martin, Savan Kotecha, and Ilya, the “powerhouse anthem” will serve as the lead single from Jessie J’s upcoming album and as a bonus track on Ariana Grande’s August 25 release “My Everything.”
If successful, the song will give Grande an impressive third hit this summer. Lead “My Everything” single “Problem (featuring Iggy Azalea)” became a bona fide smash, and the explosive follow-up “Break Free (featuring Zedd)” is already in the Top 15 at pop radio.
Full audio of the song will not be available until it reaches radio and iTunes on July 29, but Nicki Minaj issued a teaser for her verse on Instagram Wednesday.
