Update: According to preliminary data, Sunday’s “Rising Star” held steady with a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating. Its viewership, however, slipped to 4.32 million.
Due to the live nature of the broadcast, however, “Star” is subject to revision in the final report.

Not good from a numerical standpoint, the overnight rating for Sunday’s edition of ABC’s “Rising Star” at least possesses one positive quality: it is not smaller than the one delivered last week.
After sinking 16% in the overnights last week, “Rising Star” matched the prior episode’s airing this Sunday. It again delivered a 2.7 overnight household rating.
Whether that steadiness applies to the adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers remains to be seen, but it does suggest that the show likely avoided a colossal audience drop in week three.
Of course, given that last week’s episode only averaged a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating with 4.85 million viewers, steadiness was not the optimal outcome. A ratings uptick is needed to demonstrate the show’s relevance–and appeal–on the ABC schedule.
