Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” Scores Again at Pop Radio, Tiesto Follows

After two weeks of living in the shadow of Maroon 5’s “Maps,” Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” finally claims the prime position in the pop radio spotlight.

According to Mediabase, the singer-songwriter’s breakthrough solo effort landed at 42 stations to rank as the format’s most-added song this week. Its ascent to most-added comes after two weeks in the number two position.

The focus offering from the soundtrack to “The Fault in Our Stars,” “Boom Clap” is already #23 on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart. It maintains a healthy position within the Top 10 on the iTunes single sales chart and appeared at #31 on last week’s edition of the Billboard Hot 100.

There is no more denying it: the artist featured on Icona Pop’s breakthrough “I Love It” and Iggy Azalea’s #1 smash “Fancy” now has a scorching hit of her own.

Tiesto’s “Wasted (featuring Matthew Koma),” which is currently #25 on the airplay chart, ranks as the week’s second-most added song. It scored adds from a healthy 35 pop format stations.

The Madden Brothers’ debut effort “We Are Done,” which is already in the Top 40 for airplay, scored 33 adds in conjunction with its official impact this week. It ranks as third-most-added.

Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” followed with 29 pre-impact adds, while Kiesza’s newly-impacting “Hideaway” earned 26. Maroon 5’s “Maps,” which was the format’s most-added for two consecutive weeks, ties for fifth with the Kiesza song.

Clean Bandit’s exploding “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” scored 25 more adds this week, while Becky G’s breakthrough “Shower” debuted at 22 more stations. Pharrell’s Top 20 hit “Come Get it Bae” (21 adds) and Meghan Trainor’s new “All About That Bass” (15 adds) rank as the week’s ninth- and tenth-most-added pop songs.

Since Mediabase’s airplay chart only includes data from monitored reporters, it is also worth looking at how songs fared specifically with those stations:

1) Charli XCX – Boom Clap – 40 monitored adds
2) Tiesto – Wasted featuring Matthew Koma – 34 monitored adds
3) Madden Brothers – We Are Done – 31 monitored adds
4) Iggy Azalea – Black Widow featuring Rita Ora – 29 monitored adds
5) Kiesza – Hideaway – 26 monitored adds
6) Maroon 5 – Maps – 25 monitored adds
7) Clean Bandit – Rather Be featuring Jess Glynne – 23 monitored adds
8) Becky G – Shower – 22 monitored adds
9) Pharrell – Come Get it Bae – 21 monitored adds
10) Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass – 15 monitored adds
