MKTO’s “Classic” Reaches Top 10 at Pop Radio

Time will tell if MKTO’s breakthrough single becomes a “Classic,” but it is now officially a top ten song at pop radio.

According to Mediabase’s rolling airplay chart, the duo’s breakthrough rap-sung release was Top 40 radio’s tenth-most-played song over the seven days ending June 24. It swapped places with John Legend’s sinking “All of Me” to make that official entry into the top ten.

The song garnered 49.13 million impressions over that seven day period. Responsible for 1.85 million of those listens, DC’s Hot 99.5 made the largest contribution to that overall impression count.

A mainstay on the charts for several months, “Classic” does not possess the upward mobility needed to challenge for a top five position at radio. Ultimately, however, there is no denying the success of a song that went platinum in the digital sales arena and reached the top ten on pop radio.
