Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” Arriving at Top 40 Radio

Echosmith will soon find out whether it is cool enough to fit in at pop radio.

The sibling band’s “Cool Kids” is scheduled to officially impact the Top 40 format on June 3.

Long eyed as a breakthrough candidate for the act, which MTV named one of its Artists to Watch for 2014, “Cool Kids” is currently enjoying modest traction at alternative radio. Strongly supported by ALT 98.7, which broadcasts from the band’s Los Angeles hometown, the tune was the format’s 61st-most-played song for the seven days ending May 22. It reached an estimated 258,000 alternative radio listeners.

Rich with pop elements, the song now looks to begin a pop run. Early airplay is coming from stations like Virginia’s NOW 105, which added the track to its rotation this past week.

Comprised of Sierota siblings Jamie, Noah, Sydney and Graham, Echosmith emerged as a standout from the 2013 Vans Warped Tour. The act, which released its full-length debut “Talking Dreams” in October 2013, returns as a featured act for the 2014 tour.

Thrust deeper into the limelight by its inclusion on MTV’s Artists to Watch list, Echosmith performed at the network’s 2014, SXSW-based Woodie Awards festival. Its music has also been showcased on the current season of MTV’s “Awkward.”

Other songs going for pop radio adds on June 3 include Avicii’s “Addicted to You (featuring Audra Mae),” Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” and Glenn Morrison’s “Goodbye (featuring Islove).”
