Katy Perry Achieves Digital Sales Milestone with “Dark Horse”

While it is no longer atop any major chart, Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J)” continues to make a major impact within the music industry.

Still #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song this week crossed the five million digital sales mark (to 5.025 million). In doing so, it becomes the singer-songwriter’s sixth song to achieve that milestone.

Perry was already the only artist to reach the 5 million sales mark with five songs, and thanks to “Dark Horse,” she now has as many tracks in that illustrious club as any two acts combined. Lady Gaga and Eminem, the next best performers in this context, each have only three songs with downloads in excess of 5 million.

The artist previously crossed the five million sales mark with “Firework” (6.622 million), “ET (featuring Kanye West)” (5.736 million), “California Gurls (featuring Snoop Dogg)” (5.630 million), “Hot N Cold” (5.511 million) and “Roar” (5.377 million).
