“The Big Bang Theory,” “American Idol” Ratings Rebound Thursday

While hype surrounding the “Grey’s Anatomy” season finale failed to ignite ratings interest, two Thursday flagships did enjoy boosts this week.

After slipping to one of its lowest numbers in years, “The Big Bang Theory” enjoyed a ratings surge for Thursday’s seventh season finale. The episode, which posted a strong 4.9 adults 18-49 rating, was actually the show’s most-watched season finale with an audience of 16.73 million viewers.

FOX’s “Idol,” meanwhile, enjoyed a second consecutive jump in the ratings. After slipping to an all-time low against the iHeartRadio Awards on May 1, “Idol” bounced back last week and continued the bounce this week. Thursday’s results show scored a 2.0 with 8.67 million viewers in the fast nationals.
