Katy Perry’s “Birthday,” Lorde’s “Tennis Court” Impress at Radio

Here is something good to celebrate: Katy Perry’s new single “Birthday” was the week’s most-added track at Top 40 radio.

According to Mediabase, the newest release from Perry’s “PRISM” landed at 71 new Top 40 stations in conjunction with its official impact this week.

Already #32 on the Top 40 airplay chart due to early station adds, Perry’s new tune is poised for a considerable presence at pop radio.

After reigning as the format’s most-added track for two consecutive weeks, Ed Sheeran’s “Sing” slipped to number two this week. With 40 adds, however, the song remains relentless in its effort to conquer pop radio.

“Tennis Court,” the newly impacting third single from Lorde’s “Pure Heroine,” ranked as the week’s third-most-added track. 32 pop stations decided they wanted to hear Lorde “talk it up like ‘yeah’.”

Ellie Goulding’s “Beating Heart” and One Direction’s “You & I,” which both impacted the top 40 format this week, followed with 29 and 26 adds, respectively.

Nico & Vinz’ breakthrough “Am I Wrong” picked up another 25 stations to rank as the week’s sixth-most-added track, while Iggy Azalea’s red-hot “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX)” followed with 21 adds. KONGOS’ “Come With Me Now” scored the same 21 pickups.

Sia’s “Chandelier” and 5 Seconds of Summer’s “She Looks So Perfect” closed out the top 10 with 15 and 14 adds, respectively.
