Janelle Monae Confirmed for “American Idol” Performance

After several weeks of featuring up-and-coming artists, “American Idol” will devote next week’s results show to one who has already achieved stardom.

FOX announced early Friday that Janelle Monae will perform on the March 27 “Idol” results show.

The Grammy-nominated singer will perform “What is Love” on the episode, which marks the first half-hour results broadcast of the season. “Idol” will air from 9-9:30PM next week, while new comedy “Surviving Jack” will step into the 9:30PM block.

The episode will also reveal which contestant received the lowest number of votes after Wednesday’s “(I’M WITH THE) BAND!”-themed performance show.

According to FOX, “The IDOL hopefuls will act as the lead singer for Rickey Minor and his band, performing their favorite songs.”
