FX’s “The Americans” Ratings Slide for Second Season 2 Episode

As unremarkable as they were, last week’s rating and viewership numbers for FX’s “The Americans” were not indicative of the show’s audience baseline.

This week’s episode suffered a drop in both categories.

Entitled “Cardinal,” Wednesday’s episode delivered a soft 0.6 adults 18-49 rating with 1.458 million viewers. Down 14% in the demo, the episode endured a 23% hit in total viewers.

Revered by critics, “The Americans” secured a second season renewal despite modest ratings for its first season. Whether FX will extend the same leeway to the show during that sophomore season, which is down considerably from where it was at the same point last year, remains to be seen.
