Cee Lo Green Announces He’s Leaving NBC’s “The Voice”

Coach Cee Lo Green has not yet led a contestant to victory on NBC’s “The Voice.”

And he evidently never will.

The “F*ck You” singer confirmed Wednesday that he will not be returning to the music competition series.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show, Green noted, “I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice, too. I’m not coming back, guys.”

Like fellow coach Christina Aguilera, Green sat on the sidelines for the fourth and upcoming sixth seasons. Up until Wednesday’s announcement, however, the belief was that he would return for the seventh season in the fall (as he did for the fifth).

As they did last spring, Shakira and Usher will fill in for Aguilera and Green during the upcoming sixth season. Permanent judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine will return for their sixth consecutive seasons.

At press time, it is unclear whether Shakira, Usher or a new judge will take over Cee Lo’s empty chair this fall.
