USA’s “Psych” Ratings Crash; Viewership Hits Series Low

The eighth season of USA Network comedy “Psych” is not off to a good start.

Last week’s premiere attracted the show’s smallest-ever audience for a season opener.

This week’s performance does not require any such qualifier. It slipped to a series low in total viewers.

“S.E.I.Z.E. the Day,” the episode, averaged just 1.51 million viewers with a paltry 0.6 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. The numbers were down by 34% and 25%, respectively, from last week’s already disappointing marks.

While no one could possibly spin the abysmal performance as a positive, it is worth noting that this week’s “Psych,” which aired in the series’ new 9PM timeslot, faced hefty competition from the “American Idol” season premiere.
