FX “Regretfully” Agrees to End “Justified” After Next Season

The good news? The current fifth season will not serve as the swan song for FX original series “Justified.”

The bad news? The sixth season, set to bow next year, will.

FX announced Tuesday that its veteran, critically acclaimed drama will culminate with the upcoming sixth season.

According to FX’s John Landgraff, the decision was driven by showrunner Graham Yost and star Timothy Olyphant.

We talked about it a year ago and they felt that the arc of the show and what they had to say would be served by six seasons instead of seven and I regretfully accepted their decision,” said Landgraff.

The ongoing Television Critics Association press tour has not been kind to cable dramas. In addition to “Justified,” HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Newsroom” also learned that their upcoming seasons will be their lasts.
