Confirmed: The CW’s “Reign” Casts Amy Brenneman as Mary’s Mother

Confirmed by an executive producer and the actress herself, Amy Brenneman will be joining the cast of The CW’s “Reign” as Mary’s mother Marie de Guise.

“Yep,it’s true. Off to a wardrobe fitting to play the badass, Marie de Guise, on @CWReign. Watch out, @AdelaideKane, mama’s coming,” wrote Brenneman in a Tweet Monday.

Earlier in the day, Brad Silberling, a producer on “Reign” and Brenneman’s husband, teased the news with a photo:

As “Reign” does not marry itself to the documented history of Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane), it is unclear how accurately Brenneman’s character will resemble the actual Mary of Guise.

“Reign” has thus far made only loose mentions of Mary’s mother; the most notable reference came when Mary, knowing Queen Catherine asked Aylee for help snooping, plotted to write pretend letters to her mother.
