Fans Save Kat Robichaud as “The Voice” Eliminates Two Contestants

The iTunes sales battle offered a perfect window into this week’s “The Voice” results show.

Sort of.

While the two worst-selling artists were indeed the two contestants eliminated from the NBC reality competition series, they were joined in the bottom three by one who sold relatively well.

Kat Robichaud, that contestant, placed seventh out of twelve on iTunes for her well-received rendition of “Sail.” Though nowhere near as hot as Matthew Schuler’s “Hallelujah” or Jacquie Lee’s “Love is Blindness,” Robichaud’s recording reached the iTunes top fifty by the close of voting and seemed to reflect solid fan support for her performance.

But when votes from all channels were tabulated, the Team Cee Lo member found herself in the bottom three with teammate Jonny Gray and Team Christina member Josh Logan, whose “Another Day in Paradise” and “Man in the Mirror,” respectively, were the worst performers on iTunes.

As Tuesday’s results show drew to a close, “The Voice” initiated its new Instant Save feature, which allows viewers to Tweet support for their favorite of the bottom three. The one who receive the most Tweets is spared the heartbreak of elimination.

Luckily for Robichaud, her fans delivered in the clutch. Robichaud benefited from the Instant Save and advances to next week’s Top 10 show. Gray and Logan, on the other hand, wave goodbye to NBC’s competition.

The top ten is as follows:

Team Blake: Austin Jenckes, Cole Vosbury, Ray Boudreaux
Team Christina: Matthew Schuler, Jacquie Lee
Team Cee Lo: Caroline Pennell, Kat Robichaud
Team Adam: Tessanne Chin, Will Champlin, James Wolpert
