While Chael Sonnen used his post-UFC on FOX Sports 1 promo as a vehicle for challenging Wanderlei Silva, a fellow Brazilian used Twitter as a platform for making his own challenge.
“@sonnench let’s fight,” wrote Vitor Belfort. “Why u are asking for wand, u have to fight me.”
Though neither Belfort nor Sonnen has an official opponent for his next scrap, UFC President Dana White seemed exasperated by Belfort’s challenge.
“Oh my god,” cracked White. “It’s like everytime there’s a fight, Vitor wants to fight that guy. I don’t know what to say to that.”
Ranked third in the UFC Middleweight Division behind champion Chris Weidman and number one contender Anderson Silva, the veteran Belfort is irrefutably close to another crack at the title. Though ranked at the bottom of the Middleweight Top Ten, Sonnen certainly made a case to move up with his win over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
