WWE WrestleMania 29 Continues with Ryback vs. Mark Henry; Results

Following a solid, but unremarkable opener between The Shield and the team of Sheamus, Randy Orton and Big Show, WWE WrestleMania 29 continued with the night’s second match, a grudge match between Ryback and Mark Henry.

All eyes will be on how much time is given to the two, as expectations regarding the quality of the match are non-existent.

Results of Ryback vs. Mark Henry follow:

Mark Henry vs. Ryback
The bell sounds, and the two confront each other in the middle of the ring to talk trash. They then walk backwards and charge into each other. Neither gets the advantage, and then they turn to a punch exchange. Ryback gets the better of the strikes, but two clotheslines are not enough to knock the heel down.

As he charges for a third, Mark Henry counters and knocks Ryback to the mat. He follows up with a powerslam.

Ryback gets back in control and attempts to suplex Henry, but Henry counters and sends Ryback to the tip of the apron. He runs Ryback’s shoulder into the steel post.

Henry pulls Ryback into the ring and continues the offense. He slaps a bearhug on Ryback, and Ryback tries to work his way out of the crushing hold. He gives up his back to do so, and then moves towards the ropes to force a break. Henry lets go, however, and then drives Ryback into the corner.

Ryback occasionally tries to fight back into the match, but Henry’s offense proves too overwhelming. Another bearhug; this time, Ryback attempts to headbutt his way out of the hold. Bodyslam from Henry.

Ryback eventually finds a swing of momentum, and he clocks Henry with the Meathook clothesline. He calls to “finish it,” and indeed lifts Henry up for Shell Shock, but Henry uses the ropes to avoid the slam. Ryback eventually falls foward, and with Henry’s entire bodyweight dropping on his back, the pain is too significant, and Henry is able to win via pinfall.

Winner: Mark Henry

After the match, Jerry Lawler sells that Ryback is unconscious, even though he’s clearly moving around. Mark Henry goes back into the ring to deliver more damage, but Ryback counters and finally delivers the Shell Shock.
