Julie Bowen Makes it Two in a Row at the 2012 Emmy Awards

Sofia Vergara’s work was initially the more buzzworthy performance on “Modern Family,” but for the past two seasons, it has been Julie Bowen on stage accepting the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Award.

Bowen made it two in a row at the 2012 awards, beating out Vergara, Merritt Wever (“Nurse Jackie”), Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live”), Mayim Bialik (“The Big Bang Theory”) and Kathryn Joosten (“Desperate Housewives”) for the prize.

With the win, Bowen helped “Modern Family” sweep the supporting acting category for the second consecutive year. Last year, she was joined by storyline husband Ty Burrell in victory. This year, it was Eric Stonestreet winning on the male side.
