“Downton Abbey” on the Board with Supporting Actress Emmy

Moving into the drama category was certain to create a more daunting task for the cast and crew of “Downton Abbey,” which had previously been in the mix as a Miniseries.

But that task was not daunting enough to prevent Maggie Smith from claiming the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama crown for the show.

Smith beat out co-star Joanne Froggatt, along with Anna Gun (“Breaking Bad”), Christine Baranski (“The Good Wife”), Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”) and Archie Panjabi (“The Good Wife”).
