Report: Anderson Silva Agreed to Fight at UFC 151 After Jones Incident

Ariel Helwani reports that UFC Middleweight Champion and pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva offered to throw himself into the mix as a potential savior for UFC 151.

Silva did not offer to replace injured Dan Henderson in the Light Heavyweight title bout with Jon Jones, but he did apparently express willingness to fight in a non-title match at Light Heavyweight even though he was admittedly not in great shape.

Though a main-event involving Anderson Silva theoretically could have saved the show, Silva’s offer apparently came after the promotion already decided to cancel the September 1 show and thus never gained traction.

UFC Dana White expressed his appreciation for Silva’s offer.
