WWE Diva Announces Her Release from the Company

WWE developmental and NXT performer Ivelisse Velez, who was performing under the name Sofia Cortez, announced Saturday that she has been released from WWE.

“I, as well, have been released by WWE. Sorry my #Soljas,” Tweeted Velez, surely making reference to the more buzzworthy release of Abraham Washingotn.

Velez, who first gained a following on WWE’s “Tough Enough” reboot on USA Network, had been accumulating positive reviews for her in-ring work in developmental, making the release surprising.

Adding to the surprise is the fact that the blonde, pretty Velez had a look that seemed readymade for WWE’s Divas division; from the surface, it is unclear what worked against her when WWE determined made its decision on the release.
