Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade caused a stir among NBA fans Wednesday, Tweeting that Thursday will be a big day for the reigning NBA Champions.
“2morrow is a big day for #HeatNation,” wrote Wade in a message that was re-tweeted and reaffirmed by fellow Heat member LeBron James.
By no means is anything substantive promised in the cryptic tweet, but most fans and reporters are running with the notion that the team might have inched closer to a deal with Ray Allen.
The veteran sharpshooter has been linked aggressively to the Miami Heat from the moment his Boston Celtics’ playoff run ended this spring, but the guard has been courted by enough teams to prevent any potential deal from appearing definite.
And a strong contingent of analysts refused to accept the possibility that he would walk away from Boston, which added doubt to the possibility of linking up with the NBA Champions.
Whether the Wade and James hint refers to Allen remains to be seen, but Heat fans should keep their eyes open for some big news Thursday.
