Jon Jones Submits Quinton “Rampage” Jackson; UFC 135 Results

Someone finally successfully defended the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, ending the belt’s multi-year stint as a “hot potato” in one of UFC’s most important weight classes.

The fact that Jon Jones’ victory over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson took more than three rounds might suggest it was a war, but the reality is that Jones dominated from start-to-finish. His offense was not always supremely aggressive, but his movement, speed and unpredictable technique simply overwhelmed Jackson. Jackson just had no clue how to attack the young champion.

As Jones got more confident in his dominance, the end began to near for Rampage. Sure enough, early in round four, Jones easily took Rampage’s back and quickly got a tap to the rear naked choke.

Jones next moves onto a fight with Rashad Evans. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson asked for Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, but it is unclear that such a fight will be arranged given Shogun’s confirmed upcoming bout with Dan Henderson.
