Tove Lo’s “Habits” Gets On the Verge Boost at Pop

The promotional program that helped put Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX)” and Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” on the pop radio radar is now behind Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High).”

iHeartRadio has officially selected the song as its new “On the Verge” selection for pop radio.

Already in the Top 20 on Mediabase’s alternative airplay chart, the Top 35 on the pop airplay chart and the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, the buzzworthy track is due to receive significant new exposure at pop radio.

The program, which requires all of Clear Channel’s relevant stations (pop ones, in this case) to play the song at least 150 times, affords the tune an unparalleled opportunity to reach a mass audience.

And insofar as the track already had momentum (and had already garnered support from Clear Channel stations like Los Angeles’ KIIS), it seems like a prime candidate to make the most of that opportunity.

In an official On the Verge interview about the song, which also spurred Hippie Sabotage’s successful reversal remix, Tove Lo explains, “Habits is about my ex. It was a lot of passion and pain clouded by smoke and it was chaos. Really up and down. He then changed his life around and joined a Buddhist movement and I wasn’t ready for that at all so I left.”
