Lorde’s “Green Light” premiered on the afternoon of Thursday, March 2.
By the close of Friday, March 3, it had already amassed an impressive amount of spins at the pop, hot adult contemporary and alternative radio formats.
According to Mediabase, “Green Light” had received 2,157 pop spins, 534 Hot AC spins and 290 alternative spins by by the end of Friday.
The pop spin count impressively positions “Green Light” at #26 on Mediabase’s building chart, which ranks songs based on the first six days of the February 26-March 4 tracking week. “Green Light” will not receive as much airplay on Saturday, but insofar as Maroon 5’s building #11 “Don’t Wanna Know” and Jon Bellion’s building #12 “All Time Low” are due to be removed as recurrents, it still has a good chance of reaching the Top 25 on this week’s official chart.
“Green Light” meanwhile ranks at #31 on the building Hot AC chart and #36 on the building alternative chart.
In addition to the enthusiasm one would expect for a new Lorde single, “Green Light” received special launch-day support from the iHeartMedia stations at the pop, hot adult contemporary and alternative formats. Many played the song either every hour or every other hour on Thursday and Friday.
The song’s first official airplay chart positions will be revealed Sunday evening.
