For the third straight week, the US album sales race will feature a “split chart” scenario. One album will take #1 on Top Album Sales, while The Weeknd’s “Starboy” will rule the consumption-oriented Billboard 200.
This week’s sales winner will be The xx’s “I See You.” According to BuzzAngle Music/Hits Daily Double, “I See You” sold approximately 37,923 pure US copies. The count ranks as the week’s best pure sales total.
The inclusion of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) yields a first-week consumption total of ~48,098 units. The figure is the week’s second-best; “Starboy,” which generated ~59,530 units, is the consumption leader.
Due late Sunday, Billboard’s more authoritative data will differ slightly from that reported by BuzzAngle. The discrepancy will not, however, be enough to alter the overall outcomes: “I See You” will be #1 on Top Album Sales, while “Starboy” will be #1 on the Billboard 200.
This will mark “Starboy”‘s third straight week (and fourth total week) at #1 on the Billboard 200.
