While it just missed the top spot during its pop radio run, DNCE’s “Cake By The Ocean” may reach #1 on this week’s Mediabase hot adult contemporary airplay chart.
“Cake” received 2,786 spins during the first three days of the May 15-21 tracking week. The count, which bests the same-time-last-week mark by 1.8%, slots the song at #1 on Mediabase’s building chart.
DNCE’s single is not rising at a particularly fast rate, but its quest for #1 is likely safe due to the lack of competition at the top of the chart.
Lukas Graham’s building #2 “7 Years” is the only song particularly close from an airplay perspective, but it is in a state of decline. It received 2,734 spins during the first three days of the tracking week, a count which trails last week’s mark by 6.6%.
DNCE was #2 on last week’s official Hot AC chart. It peaked at #2 during its pop radio run.
