Powered by hourly airplay promotions and clear industry enthusiasm, Ariana Grande’s “Focus” garnered considerable first day airplay at pop radio.
The new Grande single received a whopping 1,528 Mediabase-monitored pop plays on October 30.
Despite coming on the sixth day of the ongoing October 25-31 tracking week, the count is enough for a #34 position on Medibase’s building pop airplay chart.
Translation: Grande’s “Focus” received more airplay in one day than all but 33 other pop songs received in the past six.
The opening day pop spin count, notably, tops that achieved by Adele’s recently released smash “Hello.” Adele’s track received 1,299 pop plays during its October 23 debut.
(Thanks to the ample airplay it received from other formats, Adele’s “Hello” nonetheless reached a larger overall radio audience on its first day of release)
