Ratings: “Teen Choice Awards” Again Disappoint

Update: Sunday’s broadcast of the 2014 Teen Choice Awards drew a weak 0.8 adults 18-49 rating with 2.64 million viewers. The overall performance landed FOX in fourth place among the big four networks Sunday.

On the very mild plus side, the show did enjoy steady growth in viewership from start to finish. It opened the night with a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating and 2.24 million viewers in the 8-8:30PM half hour and closed with a 0.9 rating and 2.86 million from 9:30-10PM.

FOX’s broadcast of the 2014 “Teen Choice Awards” was virtually no one’s television viewing choice Sunday night.

The ceremony delivered a paltry 1.6 overnight household rating, which marks a 20% decline from last year’s already-poor 2.0 rating.

Even if the show’s adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers were immune to that decline, there is no reason to believe they enjoyed a meaningful increase.

And insofar as last year’s show delivered a mere 0.8 adults 18-49 rating with just 2.62 million viewers, there is no reason to believe this year’s numbers will escape weak territory.

The “Teen Choice Awards” aired from 8-10PM on FOX.
