Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” is Pop’s Greatest Airplay Gainer

Over the past week, Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” has entered the Top 35 at Hot Adult Contemporary Radio, the Top 20 at pop radio, the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, the Top 2 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart and the #1 slot on the iTunes single sales chart.

Not remotely ready to go to print with its list of achievements, the singer-songwriter’s breakthrough effort adds another line to its relentlessly growing resume: pop radio’s greatest airplay gainer.

According to Mediabase’s official, published pop radio chart, “All About That Bass” had the greatest week-over-week spin gain for the seven days ending August 9.

That impressive increase of 1,517 spins produced a total play count of 4,272 during the period between August 3 and August 9. The play count ranked as the 20th-largest at pop radio.

Other big gainers this week include Charli XCX’s #5 “Boom Clap” (+1,511 spins to 11,827), Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s #19 “Bang Bang” (+1,497 spins to 4,984), Clean Bandit’s #12 “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” (+1,330 spins to 8,030) and Iggy Azalea’s #15 “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” (+1,066 spins to 6,719).
