“Happy” Still #1, But John Legend’s “All of Me” Knocks on the Door

It was his first Top 20 single. Then it became his first Top 10 single. Then it became his first Top 5 single.

Will “All of Me” become John Legend’s first career number one on the Hot 100?

If so, it will not happen this week. Billboard reports that despite closing the gap, Legend’s ballad could not dethrone Pharrell’s “Happy” from the number one position.

Now in its seventh week on top, “Happy” finally appears to be on the (very slow) way down. It either slipped in ranking or slipped in performance on the four charts–Digital Songs, Radio Songs, On-Demand Songs and Streaming Songs–that combine to define the Hot 100.

Legend’s “All of Me,” meanwhile, enjoyed gains in all four chart columns. If it can continue its momentum in the face of “Happy'”s fall from grace, it could indeed end up reaching number one.

The consistency in the top two positions of the Weekly Hot 100 was also possessed by the next five positions. Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J),” Jason DeRulo’s “Talk Dirty (featuring 2 Chainz),” Idina Menzel’s “Let it Go,” Bastille’s “Pompeii” and Lorde’s “Team” respectively occupied the 3-7 slots.

After trading places last week, OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” and Aloe Blacc’s “The Man” again swapped spots on the chart. “Stars” earned #8 this week, while “The Man” dipped to #9.

DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What” lands at #10.
