“The Millers” Premieres to Decent Ratings, “Crazy Ones” Tumbles

By turning away an ample portion of its “The Big Bang Theory” lead-in Thursday, “The Millers” is unable to call itself a legitimate winner.

But insofar as it convincingly won its timeslot with a very large audience, it can definitely lay claim to a decent premiere performance.

Leading out of CBS’ behemoth “The Big Bang Theory” (5.2 adults 18-49 rating with 18.22 million viewers), the Will Arnett-Margo Martindale comedy drew a 3.3 rating with 13.09 million.

— Because last week’s premiere was inflated by curiosity in Robin Williams’ return to television and lead-in support from “The Big Bang Theory,” “The Crazy Ones” seemed poised to suffer a notable ratings decline this week.

It did.

Thursday’s episode, supported by its regular lead-in “The Millers,” dipped significantly to a 2.9 rating with 11.71 million viewers.

Though they pale in comparison to what “Crazy” delivered last week, the numbers will be more than welcome if they reflect a rough point of stabilization for CBS’ comedy. Odds are, however, that the show will fall a bit farther before settling into its steady season one groove.

“Two and a Half Men” followed the freshman comedy with a soft 2.4 and 9.34 million at 9:30PM. “Elementary” then closed CBS’ evening with a 2.0 and 9.38 million.
