Anna Gunn Picks Up Acting Emmy for “Breaking Bad”

Earlier in “Breaking Bad”‘s iconic run, lead actor Bryan Cranston was considered the series’ biggest lock for an acting Emmy.

This year was different.

Cranston still possesses a strong chance of winning, but going into the show, there was one “Bad” performer whose win appeared to be certain. That performer was Anna Gunn, whose long unheralded turn on the series finally became too impressive for anyone–from critics, to disapproving fans, to Emmy voters–to ignore.

Gunn, sure enough, won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work as Skyler White, beating out fellow actresses Morena Baccarin, Christine Baranski, Emilia Clarke, Christina Hendricks and Maggie Smith.

The “Breaking Bad” actress was also nominated last year.
